Continuing Education Courses

Peak Performance Physical Therapy will be hosting many continuing education events this coming year. Read more below.

Myofascial Release: Functional Integration

Come learn an entirely new way to look at treating the soft-tissue system of the whole body! The focus of this course is to integrate myofascial release with movement. Through it, you’ll learn the physiological basis for muscle hypertonicity and fascial restrictions to help diagnose and treat the myofascial system, while also incorporating the peripheral nervous system, fascial system, and muscular system. Treatment is comprised of direct muscle releases while lengthening and shortening muscles, allowing the dysfunctional motor units to immediately start to work again in functional movement patterns. After the course, you’ll have the ability to effectively treat muscle and fascial restrictions to get ROM and strength gains, while helping pain subside quicker.

Optimizing UE Exercise Interventions

Exercise intervention is an incredibly popular and effective part of physical therapy. Unfortunately, many clinicians use the same exercises repeatedly, even with patients requiring a different approach. This class will increase your understanding of effective upper extremity exercise prescription, as well as provide you with real-life examples to help you choose the appropriate exercise(s) for your patient’s condition and keep their program varied and interesting. In this 1-day course, we create a framework for exercises that emphasize improving mobility of the UE joints, re-education of stabilizing muscles and progressive overload to restore normal function in your patient. The exercises covered in this course will improve your ability to effectively treat UE conditions and injuries you commonly see in your clinics. Take your understanding of UE exercise intervention and ability to create effective exercise programs to the next level, giving your patients the care they deserve.

Also be sure to check out Optimizing Lower Extremity Exercise Interventions, which is scheduled on the same weekends as below, so you can complete two 1-day courses in the same weekend!

Optimizing LE Exercise Interventions

Are you tired of using the same exercises in most of your lower extremity patient programs? Do you want to both increase your understanding and implementation of lower extremity exercise programs and the level of care you give your patients? Come expand your understanding and repertoire of lower extremity exercise interventions in this course. In this 1-day course, we create a framework for exercises that emphasize improving mobility of the LE joints, re-education of stabilizing muscles and progressive overload to restore normal function in your patient. You will leave this course with an abundance of new exercises to choose from, along with a greater understanding of why and when to choose each.

Also be sure to check out Optimizing Upper Extremity Exercise Interventions, which is scheduled on the same weekends as below, so you can complete two 1-day courses in the same weekend!

Rehabbing the Runner

Treating runners is a fun yet often complex biomechanical task. This course will teach you how to efficiently assess and treat your runner patients in an integrative and comprehensive way. We’ll update you on the biomechanics of running and how conceptual models of running have changed over the years. You’ll also learn a comprehensive gait assessment and how to incorporate functional movement assessments into your treatment plan. Treatment techniques include MFR, MET and mobilizations of the lower quarter as well as exercise progressions for runners at any level. At the completion of this course, you’ll be able to treat most any running injury diagnosis with confidence, and apply what you learn to create customized training programs to fit your patients’ goals!
