New Year, New You!

As we step into the new year, it’s a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on what health, happiness, and longevity truly mean to us. Throughout time, we’ve been given countless pieces of advice about how to live a fulfilling life. For some, the key to a meaningful life lies in strong family connections, while others find purpose through a rewarding career. Many place a high value on proper nutrition and staying physically active. While everyone’s journey is different, one thing is clear: taking care of ourselves and our well-being is essential to living a long and fulfilling life.

Staying active plays a vital role in maintaining our health, and finding balance is crucial for our happiness. No matter what your personal path looks like, prioritizing your physical and mental health will help you create the foundation for a more vibrant and joyful year ahead. At Peak Performance Physical Therapy, we are excited to be part of your journey toward better health, and we look forward to supporting you in achieving your goals this year.

Is your New Year’s resolution focused on exercising more, eating healthier, improving sleep, or enhancing your mental health?

Did you know that physical therapy can support all of these goals? Each aspect of your well-being directly impacts your energy levels for physical activity—and physical activity, in turn, influences them.

For example, lack of sleep can leave you too tired to hit the gym, but regular exercise can actually help regulate your sleep patterns. If your diet isn’t providing the necessary nutrients, your energy levels may dip, but staying active can reduce cravings and boost overall energy. Plus, physical activity is scientifically proven to elevate mood and support mental health.

Physical therapy is an excellent way to enhance your activity levels while restoring balance to your life. At Peak Performance Physical Therapy, we’re here to help you achieve your goals for 2025!

Are you Ready to Reach Your Goals?

C.L. Wilcox, DO

Dr. Wilcox is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He has gone into the field of medicine knowing that he wanted to work with people and help them improve their lifestyle and recover from injuries. Growing up and playing sports, Dr. Wilcox, unfortunately, had several injuries, but he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with several wonderful orthopedic surgeons who showed him the possibilities of being a doctor and helping people in their recovery process. Dr. Wilcox finds the best part of his job is getting to work with people on a daily basis, being able to interact with them and help them understand the pathology and problems they suffer from. In his spare time away from medicine, Dr. Wilcox enjoys spending time with his family, especially watching his kids participate in sports.

Megan Brew- Mason Clinic Manager & Physical Therapist

My name is Megan Brew, and I am a physical therapist and the Clinic Manager of the Mason Location. I live in Fowlerville with my husband and 3 children. I have 9 month old twins and an almost 3 year old and 2 labs at home with me. I am a horse girl at heart, but have not had much time to ride lately. My other hobbies include spending time outside with my family, camping and running. I am originally from Temperance, MI and moved to the Lansing area with my husband after PT school. For my undergraduate degree I went to Central Michigan University, followed by Oakland University for my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I currently treat orthopedics, with specialties in pediatrics and pelvic floor physical therapy.

Jessica Reed- Authorization Specialist

I’m an outgoing 41-year-old from Fowlerville who loves the little things in life! I married my husband, Josh, in 2014, and we live with our three fur babies: Jax, a German Shepherd; Drexel, a Pug; and Salem, a tuxedo kitten. We enjoy country living with plenty of space for the dogs to play and a hot tub and pool table in the barn. I’m passionate about helping others, with a medical background since the late ’90s. Mackinaw is my happy place, and anything with sunflowers or polka dots makes me smile! Working at Peak Performance Physical Therapy has been an incredible experience, and I’m excited for the journey ahead with such a supportive and welcoming team.

Having healthy posture habits can prevent common neck, shoulder, and back problems and improve your mood and energy throughout the day.

General Tips:

  • Keep your muscles loose by taking standing or walking breaks every 30-45 minutes.
  • When possible, give your eyes a rest by looking away from your computer every 20 minutes and focusing on a distant object.
