Do you have a knee injury? Physical therapy can help you heal faster and stay active. Knee injuries can be caused by a variety of things including meniscus tears, ACL tears, arthritis, inflammation of the knee joint cartilage, degeneration of the muscles, and knee replacement.

Physical therapy can be beneficial before and after surgery. Before surgery, physical therapy can help identify the underlying cause of the knee injury and create an individualized plan to prepare the patient for successful surgery. After surgery, physical therapy can help the patient recover and regain strength, range of motion, and balance.

For meniscus tears, physical therapy can help to reduce inflammation and improve range of motion. It can also help to strengthen the muscles around the knee to improve stability.

If you have an ACL tear, physical therapy can help to restore motion and strength of the leg. It can also help to reduce swelling and improve balance. For those with arthritis, physical therapy can help to reduce pain and improve mobility. A physical therapist can also provide exercises to help maintain strength and flexibility.

If you have inflammation of the knee joint cartilage, physical therapy can help to reduce swelling and pain. It can also help to improve range of motion and strengthen the muscles around the knee.

If you have degeneration of the muscles, physical therapy can help to reduce pain and improve muscle function. A physical therapist can also teach you exercises to improve strength and balance.

Finally, if you’ve had a knee replacement, physical therapy can help you recover and regain strength, range of motion, and balance.

If you’re dealing with a knee injury, physical therapy can help you recover and stay active. A physical therapist can create an individualized plan tailored to your specific needs.

Dr Wilcox
Dr. Charles Taunt

Dr. Taunt, a knee surgeon, was inspired to become a doctor after seeing his grandfather struggle with a knee issue due to gunshot wounds suffered in World War 2. He committed to becoming a knee surgeon at a young age and finds the most rewarding patients to be those with the worst knee problems. His practice focuses on the treatment of knee and hip arthritis. He encourages patients to maintain a healthy weight, exercise, eat a nutritious diet, and stay active. When non-surgical treatments fail, he offers medication, injections, and surgery when necessary to improve the patient’s life and reduce their pain.

When it comes to difficult diagnoses, Dr. Taunt has found that an honest, detailed discussion with the patient is crucial. He helps them understand their problem and its severity, as well as their options. Then, he creates a detailed plan and executes it very carefully. He stays up to date on the latest medical research and treatment methods through teaching orthopedic surgery residents, reading new medical research, attending national seminars, and working on an international committee designing a new knee replacement product.

Dr. Taunt advises patients to listen to all their healthcare providers and follow through on their recommendations to improve their health. He warns his patients about the biases and marketing found on the internet and encourages them to trust reliable sources such as the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons or the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Taunt believes it’s essential to inform every member of the healthcare team of the diagnosis and treatment goals, including physical therapists, to provide the best possible care for patients.

One of Dr. Taunt’s most memorable experiences was helping a woman who had two failed knee replacements. She had fused knees and was unable to move them at all. After losing over 100 pounds, they executed a detailed surgical plan that ultimately helped her regain her mobility and quality of life. She can now walk without pain, go up and down stairs normally, and has a sparkle in her eye that Dr. Taunt finds incredibly rewarding.

Our team at Peak Performance Physical Therapy would highly recommend Dr. Taunt to anyone seeking compassionate, expert care for knee and hip arthritis treatment. To learn more about Dr. Taunt and how to schedule an appointment, click the following link Dr. Taunt – Michigan Orthopedic Center
